GOD UNWILLING

"God Unwilling" is a project that reimagines the long-rumored collab album by CHILD REBEL SOLDIER, the hip-hop supergroup composed of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, and Lupe Fiasco. Despite the trio teasing this collaborative album, it never materialized, with only a few tracks officially released. In December 2020, I took the initiative to bring this imagined album to life, crafting a full-fledged experience for fans.

 

I led the creative direction for "God Unwilling," overseeing all aspects of the project’s development. I conceptualized the album’s structure, which features each artist having their own interlude followed by a three-track run that highlighted their unique styles and sounds. I collaborated with a producer, whom I tasked as the executive producer to assist with some creative decisions and produce the intro and outro tracks.

For the rollout, I designed a comprehensive promotional strategy that included tracklist teasing, the release of a teaser track, an album trailer, and targeted online promotion to generate excitement around the project. Additionally, I created the album cover and assembled a 16-track list by editing the three members' verses over existing beats and songs, carefully crafting a sound that felt authentic to the group. The result was a fan-imagined project that resonated with listeners and was widely praised on platforms like YouTube and Reddit, with fans describing it as "the closest they will ever get to the real thing."
