GHOSTFACE FREESTYLE

"GHOSTFACE FREESTYLE" is a non-album single by WESTHILL, released on April 28th, 2023, just a week after the group's previous single, "THE METHOD FREESTYLE." The track features rapping over Ghostface Killah's iconic "One" instrumental, paying homage to one of hip-hop's most respected figures.

I was responsible for the cover art and a significant portion of the promotional strategy. By using a black-and-white photo of TLC, an iconic R&B group known for their bold style and raw, unapologetic attitude, the artwork pays homage to a pivotal era in 90s music—a period that also saw the rise of Ghostface Killah and the Wu-Tang Clan. This imagery creates a sense of anonymity and mystery that aligns with the "Ghostface" theme of the single. To build anticipation, I teased the release online with a combination of old footage featuring both TLC and Ghostface Killah, sparking curiosity. This approach created a visual and conceptual link between the legends of R&B and hip-hop, mirroring the freestyle’s style and context.
